Financial planning managers play a critical role in fiscal decisions and in the overall business planning for an organization.

Financial planning managers analyze data and provide recommendations for growth and profitability for an organization. They assist with understanding trends in their business. They develop other leaders’ ideas into strategic business plans. Providing data-based decision support, they typically supervise another financial analyst. They work closely with Operations teams and department leaders to gather insight into business trends to update forecasts that aid in accurate financial modeling and strategic thinking. 

The financial manager is a key player in processing the annual budget. Other responsibilities include management reporting, budget consolidation, long-range financial planning, forecasting, and analysis, and presentation of findings to senior management.
