Music Theory Instructor

Music theory instructors are teachers who specialize in teaching music theory and its applications.

Music theory instructors help teach the written language of music to others. They cover everything from the fundamentals of reading and writing music notation to the advanced analysis of musical works. If you enjoy taking something apart to study its inner workings and sharing that knowledge with others, this can be an excellent career pursuit.

Some music theory instructors are private teachers and act more as academic tutors, while others teach within a school or institution setting. The most experienced music theory professors will pursue undergraduate and graduate degrees in music, with at least one of those degrees focusing specifically on music theory.
