Social Media Managers build and coordinate social media strategy for employers.

Social media managers are responsible for the execution of social media content. They play pivotal roles in presenting the organization’s ideals through relevant and authentic content. They serve as the social media expert within the company, maintaining a cutting edge understanding of social media best practices, features, strategies, channels, and trending topics. 

Social media managers create platform-specific content for each social channel as part of monthly or year-long content calendars and ensure that all messaging is accurate, effective, and consistently exemplifies the organization’s values. They are responsible for creating community by maintaining conversation on social channels and cultivating audience engagement. They also coordinate creative strategy and deployment of email marketing with other departments (see: Publicist and Marketing Coordinator / Manager).
