Choir Performer

Also known as Choir Singer

A choir performer is a vocalist who specializes in performing with a large ensemble of vocal performers.

A choir performer or choir singer is a musician who specializes in performing as part of a choir. There are many types of choirs, ranging from smaller groups of ten or twenty to groups of over a hundred singers. Choirs may focus on one genre or might perform a wide variety of music from renaissance to classical to broadway. They may have a variety of live performances or recorded performances (see Studio Musician).

Many choirs will host auditions. In order to obtain a spot, the vocalist must have advanced singing capabilities. While a degree is not required, many performers will get advanced training through an undergraduate, master’s, or doctoral program. The schedule of a choir will vary with many performances often happening on nights or weekends. Many choirs will also travel to different venues in different parts of the country or even around the world. Performing with a choir would be great for someone who is very career focused and is interested in working in a fast-paced, changing environment
